Clean your carpet like a pro
Food stains, spilled glass of wine, coffee drops, pet hair or gum stuck on? Your carpet is certainly in great need of a good cleaning!
Without calling in a specialized company, it is possible with a few simple tricks and a little elbow grease, to make it look good again.
Vacuum regularly

Remove dust from objects in your room, including curtains.
Vacuum first horizontally and then vertically. It is advisable to use a thinner nozzle when vacuuming along walls as this is where the most dust is found.
Repeat once or twice a week.
Act when the task is still recent
As soon as a stain forms on your carpet, grab a white paper towel to absorb the stain. This will prevent the stain from becoming embedded in the fibres.
Caution: never use a sponge that is soaked in water, as this will only make the task worse.
Eliminate wine & beer stains

Mix white vinegar with sparkling water and spray the preparation on the affected area.
Let stand for about 10 minutes and then press the stain with a clean cloth or sponge. This process should allow the stain to be absorbed.
If necessary, repeat the process until the task is completely eliminated.
Rinse the area with lukewarm water and spread absorbent paper over it. Leave it on until your carpet is dry (drying time: about 1 day).
Remove grease stains

If necessary, repeat the process until the task is completely eliminated.
Getting rid of an embedded piece of chewing gum

Collect ice cubes from your freezer and place them on top of the gum until it freezes (30 seconds should be enough).
When it has become solid, use a spoon to lift it up.
If necessary, cut off a few strands of the carpet around it.
Remove candle wax
Place a white cloth on your carpet and place your iron on it for 30 seconds to warm the wax?
Scratch it gently with a knife to remove the larger one.
When you are finished, place a white paper towel over the wax residue and iron in the same way. The wax will melt and cling to the paper.
Do a deep cleaning from time to time

Baking soda:
Pour baking soda over the entire surface of the carpet.
Let stand overnight.
Vacuum to remove the baking soda.
Carpet shampoo:
Vacuum your home.
Apply a carpet shampoo, making sure to follow the instructions on the label. In most cases, you will need to dilute the product with water.
Apply the mixture to your surfaces without soaking the carpet.
If necessary, scrub stubborn stains with a hard bristle brush.
Allow to dry.
Tip: You can also use the carpet shampooer to vacuum your sofa if it is made of fabric.
The steam engine:
Rent a steam machine once or twice a year for deep cleaning. The machine will inject pressurized water into the carpet fibres and remove dirt and debris from the carpet.
The carpet shampoo machine:
It will thoroughly clean your carpet.
You will find two types of shampoos on the market:
Broom-type shampooers and sled-type shampooers.
However, buying a shampoo machine... It is still an important investment for a tool that is only used for a specific purpose. However, you can always rent a professional machine from Ouidoo who will be happy to meet your expectations.
